**The Role**
The Maintenance Manager is the member responsible for the task management of maintenance on Aviation Support System equipment, conducted on site and in workshops.

The position provides exposure to the majority of the Aviation Support Systems in the Air Traffic Control environment as well as personnel and task management activities.

Responsibilities for this role include, but is not limited to, defining maintenance tasks, conducting impact assessments, identifying training requirements, communicating maintenance requirements to maintenance personnel, providing task opportunities to facilitate authorisation of personnel and ensuring that maintenance action taken satisfies task requirements.

This role provides opportunities for developing skills and knowledge through participation in workshops, courses and on the job training.

**About our Team**
453 Squadron in Williamtown, Newcastle (NSW) maintenance team delivers critical support to Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations by maintaining and managing the Aviation Support System (AvSS).

These systems include the radar, radios, navigation aids and communication network system in support of Defence and Civilian ATC systems.

The team is comprised of 21 members of which you will be responsible for a team of 6-8 communication technicians.

You will work with another Maintenance Manager and report to the maintenance coordinator.

The ideal Maintenance Manager for 453 Squadron is capable of appropriately delegating tasks in line with relevant regulations and policies as well as an effective communicator for stakeholder engagement.

Thus, a well-developed understanding of compliance to relevant regulations, legislation and policy requirements is desirable. Other ideal traits include the ability to coordinate and contribute to completing tasks in a safe manner taking into consideration priorities, personnel development and quality.

This member should also be capable of assessing technical tasks, including scoping, planning and review, to meet specified requirements in an effective and safe manner.

The ideal maintenance manager takes responsibility for managing technical tasks and maintenance teams in support of the Aviation Support System (AvSS) equipment that enables the Australian Defence Force to meet its objectives.
