THE ROLE
The Chief of Public Engagement at the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing is the principal adviser to ministers, the Secretary, departmental senior management, and external stakeholders on high-level departmental strategic communications and media matters. The Chief of Public Engagement is responsible for leading and managing the Public Engagement branch, ensuring the work of the department is clearly communicated to the Victorian public and key stakeholders.
The Chief of Public Engagement also plays a key driving and leadership role in ensuring the effective development and implementation of communications and media strategies, standards, channels and products.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Drive the delivery in a government environment of a high-quality, responsive, and proactive communications and media function that meets the department's objectives and the changing needs of the organisation.
- Generate strategic leadership and direction in overseeing the branch's business and strategic planning processes, embedding the department's vision, setting the branch direction, objectives and performance targets in the development and implementation of policy, program standards and provision of high-level strategic advice on a range of departmental communications and media management activities and initiatives to Ministers, the Secretary, departmental senior management, and external stakeholders.
- Set direction, lead, drive the development of risk mitigation strategies and identify and respond to crisis events to allow the department to ensure service delivery objectives are met.
