**About the role.**
We’re looking for a Principal Legal Advisor to join the Office of the Registrar, Aboriginal Land Rights Act (ORALRA). In this pivotal role, you will provide high-level expert legal advice and analysis to the Registrar and ORALRA on complex legal matters, ensuring the efficient and effective exercise of the Registrar’s functions. Your expertise will help shape legal strategies, policies, and processes, making a meaningful impact on the administration of Aboriginal land rights in NSW.

- You have a relevant Legal qualification and hold a current practising certificate in NSW
- You bring expertise in administrative law, Aboriginal land rights, and/or criminal law
- You have a strong ability to provide high-level expert legal advice and recommendations on legal standards, strategies, systems, and processes in accordance with legislation, policy, and practice standards
- You stay informed on a broad range of legal and policy issues, proactively identifying emerging challenges—such as legislative or policy gaps—that may impact the Registrar’s functions, ensuring all implications are thoroughly considered
- You have exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- You have demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with, and understand issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- You hold a current Driver’s License and are willing to travel around NSW as required

**Salary**:Legal Officer Grade VI. Package includes base salary ($161,034 - $164,426) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
