As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The Workforce Experience unit is focused on ensuring positive workforce experiences through shared values of trust, loyalty, respect, integrity, and courage. The team leads the workforce experience program and workforce engagement functions. In addition to their advisory role, the team investigates, supports, and assesses the culture and engagement initiatives QFES has developed, implemented and/or integrated across the department, including being responsible for analysing and delivering the workforce surveys to all levels of the organisation.
Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Services you will be responsible for leading and managing a highly motivated and agile within the appropriate financial and human resources delegations. You will work closely with senior managers, QFES workforce and external stakeholders to ensure that culture and engagement activities are delivered successfully across the department and with relevant stakeholders to align with organisational objectives.

Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Lead and manage the development and delivery of strategies and projects that ensure QFES workforce culture meets the current, emerging and future needs or the organisation.
- Deliver strategic cultural objectives, including fostering a culture that aligns with the organisational values promoting professionalism, inclusion and respect.
- Manage and oversee the development and delivery of strategies and initiatives, providing high-level advice to ensure an engaged and productive workforce, and enables effective decision making.
- Lead the process of conduct comprehensive proactive internal and external reviews, environmental scanning and research, and audits relating to organisational culture and workforce engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and represent the department in relevant committees, meetings and forums to promote culture and engagement capabilities, and drive positive outcomes.
- Prepare and review complex submissions, briefs, reports and other correspondence relating to workforce experience issues and outcomes in accordance with department requirements and governance.
- Develop and implement systems and processes that enable the effective measuring and monitoring of QFES culture, and enhances evidence based proactive strategic and operational planning.
- Lead and manage the functions of the team through effective human resource, and financial management practices, including developing staff through performance, planning and review.
