The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability. This includes integrity; conduct; fraud and corruption; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and change; workplace health and safety, property and security.
The People and Policy Branch are the front line of human resources (HR) for the department. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups. Supporting our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas. Offering general and specialist HR advice and case management services, for issues related to workplace relations, performance, probation, recruitment, attendance, behaviour, and workplace rehabilitation.
**The Recruitment** Section provides assistance and support to the department by providing advice on matters including, but not limited to; recruitment planning, advertising vacancies, engagement and extensions of non
- ongoing employees, engagement and extension of external workers, eRecruit guidance and support, Expressions of Interest, Transfers between agencies and secondments, accessing merit pools, advice on affirmative measure positions, reasonable adjustments and the merit principle.
**The Jobs**
HR Advisors are critical in supporting DAFF and its people from delivering on attraction, recruitment and retention strategies, to supporting employees and managers in relation to entitlements or complex rehabilitation, performance or behaviour issues. HR Advisors drive the design, delivery and implementation of strategies which contribute to organisational goals and priorities, or those which support staff and managers. This round will be used to fill roles in Recruitment, Workplace Relations, SES Unit, People Support Service Centre and Entry Programs.
Key duties include:
- providing high-quality advice and services to stakeholders on a range of HR-related functions
- leading the development of HR policies and procedures that meet legislative and agency requirements
- communicating effectively and developing and maintaining productive working relationships both internally and externally
- assisting in the development and implementation of HR projects, policies, processes, guidance material, key business improvements and strategies relating to the delivery of HR services
- taking a flexible approach to developing and managing innovative case management solutions to complex people matters, in accordance with the APS employment framework and department policy
- managing a small team of people.
**Please note** that this recruitment process will be used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions across the sections listed above. If an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of 18 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 3 years in total. Some of these non-ongoing positions may become ongoing in the next 18 months. Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis. The merit pool may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- experience in a government environment (or similar) with knowledge of government legislation, policies, procedures and systems, particularly related to human resources
- proven experience in providing HR advice and outstanding customer service across a diverse organisation
- demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities with quality and attention to detail.
