**Talent International** is currently recruiting for a **Project Officer **to work for an** NSW Government **based in **Parramatta/WFH**. This is contract role initially **5 months contract with the view to be extended.** The role is paying **$63.61 per hour + Super.**

**Overview**:

- This role is in the client's Plastics Compliance Team, within the client's Engagement, Education and Programs Division.
- You will be joining a high-performing and passionate team with a proven track record in delivering on the strategic priorities of the client and the NSW Government, and who are committed to supporting the client's ambition of being a world class regulator.
- The team specifically works on developing regulatory policy and programs to support the NSW Government's commitments in the NSW Plastics Action Plan and implementing key actions from the NSW Plastics Action Plan and associated legislation.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Play a key role in the creation of new business systems, that assist businesses and stakeholders to comply with their obligations to transition from single-use plastics and packaging to sustainable alternatives
- Identify, analyse and document business processes, data and requirements to create new business systems using best practice methodology and industry recognised processes, practices and systems, assisting others to decide on the best approach
- Investigate problems, analyse options and provides recommendations for new and existing processes and solutions with the aim of improving compliance, usability, effectiveness and mitigating risks
- Support the development and implementation of Branch/Section projects and programs - including strategic and operational plans, frameworks, policies, processes and procedures that address program priorities.
- Gathering, review, analysis and presentation of project data to effectively meet reporting and project evaluation requirements and outcomes.
- Manage individual projects including managing and coordinating assigned staff and contractors.
- Draft briefings, advice and correspondence accurately reflecting the client's position in respect of range of Branch programs.
- Use the innovative set of regulatory tools set out by the client's to engage with varied stakeholders.

**Challenges**:

- Maintaining a broad and current knowledge of relevant state and commonwealth policy in areas relating to Branch programs
- Understanding complex issues including technical content and strategic importance and maintaining a clear sense of the relationship between the policy requirement, the evidence base, and implementation/ operational aspects.
- Ensuring that legislation relating to Branch programs are effectively implemented in projects undertaken and that there are no unacceptable environmental, public health or public perception risks.
- Addressing and responding to changing issues and priorities

**Essential skills**:

- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: plastics and packaging regulation, waste and recycling management, sustainability and circular economy policies, environmental auditing, public sector management and corporate governance.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate Business User Requirements, facilitating meetings with Business Users/Stakeholders to obtain and check Requirements
- Knowledge of NSW government policy as it relates to environmental issues, including knowledge of relevant public sector or environmental legislation and the responsibilities of relevant government agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, to problem solve and to pro-actively manage issues and risks in order to facilitate timely and positive outcomes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in researching and developing specific responses to current or emerging environmental issues.
