About the Role
- Undertake health surveillance and diseases prevention and control activities for communicable and non
- communicable diseases and injury.
- Participate in health promotion, environmental health and other contemporary public health activities.
- Conduct research projects relevant to public health medicine.
- Provide public health information, education and advice to other health professionals, government agencies, industry, community groups and individuals.
- Assess health issues in terms of their public health implications and advocate this perspective when appropriate.
- Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
- Possess sound interpersonal communication, negotiation and analytical skills to enable effective interaction with all internal and external clients.
- Have good knowledge of the principles and practice of public health, including an understanding of the broader issues affecting public health medical practice.
- Be competent in computer-based technology especially as it relates to the use of surveillance databases, spreadsheet packages and basic word processing tasks.
