Pathology Queensland invites applications from experienced Forensic Pathology Registrars who have successfully completed Part I of their RCPA examinations.
As a Forensic Pathology Registrar, you will play a vital role in supporting departmental operations and advancing forensic investigations. Working closely under the guidance of the Chief Forensic Pathologist, you'll gain hands-on experience in Forensic Pathology.

Your key responsibilities
- You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values.
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Examine and report findings as required
- Comply with accreditation requirements including performing quality control procedures, assisting with preparation of procedure manuals and completion of relevant statistics
- Have the ability to contribute to original research
- Participate in ongoing education activities including teaching sessions hosted by consultants, and in the hospital
- Display a high level of initiative
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Academic achievement and interest in Forensic Pathology; proven ability to succeed in medical examinations.
- Interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member and to relate successfully with other staff at all levels.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both spoken and written English in formal, informal presentation of scientific, teaching or clinical material.
- Ability, interest and willingness to participate in the teaching of pathology and research.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, and must be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia
- Prior experience as a Forensic Pathology registrar with completion of Part I examination essential
- Although the position is primarily based at Coopers Plains, Brisbane, it may include a rotation to the Townsville Laboratory.
- Registered forensic pathology trainee with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD and Covid Vaccination) requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
