**About Tandanya**:
Tandanya, National Aboriginal Cultural Institute is recognised as the leading Australian Indigenous multi-arts and cultural venue that promotes an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through artistic expression, participation, and interaction in a reconciliatory way.
Tandanya undertakes an extensive program of performance, exhibitions, and cultural and educational activities throughout the year, operates a retail outlet for Indigenous arts and crafts, and operates a café where visitors can experience the vibrancy and diversity of contemporary Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander arts and cultures.
**The Role**:
The Chief Executive Officer is a member of the Tandanya’ s Management Team, reporting directly to the Board, and is accountable for the effective leadership, management, and operational delivery across Tandanya. Responsible for top-line growth of revenue as well as meeting funding objectives this role will develop and execute revenue growth strategies, overseeing corporate governance, marketing, programs, and strategic plan of the organisation.
**Key Duties**:
- Working closely with the Board to fulfil the organisations vision, and values
- Ensure that the vision is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach
- Responsible for the enhancement of Tandanya’ s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, public, and private organisations.
- Ensures corporate and regulatory compliance
- Responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices and policies, including fundraising, and developing other revenues necessary to support Tandanya’ s vision
- Ensure the Tandanya Strategic plan is implemented
- Provide leadership, direction, and advice in the development of program, operational and financial plans
**To be successful in the role**:
- Passion and commitment to engaging with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders community.
- Solid understanding of Aboriginal Culture and the Arts Industry
- At least 5 years’ experience as a senior role for a not-for-profit and/or community focussed organisation
- Active fundraising experience, including preparing tender submissions, and proven experience of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
- Experience in working with a Board of Directors
- Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organisations of influence including funders, partner agencies and community leaders
- Solid organisational abilities, including planning, delegating, and program development
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
- High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organisation’s strategic future to the staff, board, and funding bodies
