CSIRO has an exciting opportunity for a Communication Manager, Corporate Affairs to support our Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS) business unit.

As the Communication Manager, you will develop, lead and implement the CBIS communication strategy, driving internal and external communication campaigns and activities. Environmental sustainability is at the core of CSIRO’s purpose and you’ll play an active role in programs such as CSIRO’s Sustainability Strategy, its Net Zero Emissions strategic engagement and site consolidations.

You will work closely with CSIRO’s Employee Engagement Team in Corporate Affairs to provide strategic, creative, and agile communication advice. You’ll contribute to helping inform and engage CSIRO’s 6000 employees across Australia and support CBIS communication planning and implementation of projects.

You’re an experienced communications professional, with strong issues management skills, experience in media relations and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You’re a proactive team player, who can think creatively and laterally about how communication can support and enhance CBIS initiatives.

**Your duties will include**:

- Partnering with the CBIS Leadership Team to set communication priorities, develop and implement the strategic CBIS Communications Plan and specific communications strategies to support its strategic priorities.
- Liaising with CBIS managers and staff to proactively identify and develop stories for CBIS initiatives and liaising with media regarding compelling stories about CSIRO science, property and infrastructure, including preparation for interview, managing interviews and requests for information.
- Engaging with the CBIS and Corporate Affairs teams to proactively mitigate potential CBIS issues, as well as manage reactive media opportunities.
- Ensuring rapid communication of CBIS issues to relevant internal stakeholders, developing issues management plans as required and offering strategic and agile communication advice to the CBIS team.
- Creating impactful content for use in digital or media to illustrate CSIRO property, infrastructure, sustainability, science and impact, ensuring content is timely, relevant, engaging and accessible.
- Developing and maintain trusted relationships with CBIS teams and stakeholders.
- Assigning, tracking and monitoring key metrics to make informed decisions about communication objectives and effectiveness.

**Salary**:AU$105k - AU$114k (pro-rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

**Tenure**:Specified term of 2 years, Full-time or Part-time (4 days a week) considered

**To be considered you will need**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification and relevant work experience in communication - public relations, marketing, digital, media, community relations or journalism
- Experience developing and managing integrated communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and campaigns
- Proven expertise in complex stakeholder management
- Proven experience in change management and issues management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail and quality and operate well in an often complex, ambiguous and fast-moving environment
- Team player with an ability to work collaboratively and autonomously

**Desirable**:

- Experience in photography/videography
- Experience with digital technology and social media
- Experience with sustainability reporting and comms.
