The opportunity

We have a newly created role for a Junior Category Manager to join our Procurement team.

Reporting into the Senior Category Manager you will be supporting our Indirect Procurement spend categories and suppliers across Australia and New Zealand. Scope will include, performance of market evaluation, sourcing activities, compliance activities, contract related activities, relationship management (internal and external), performance reporting and support in category initiatives through best practice procurement techniques and supporting other procurement projects across QBE’s Indirect Procurement.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with end-to-end procurement processes to deliver value across the Indirect Procurement categories including delivering commercial benefits/savings against specific targets
- Help develop insightful reports from spend/supplier data to support management of suppliers, including contract compliance and reporting accuracy
- Supporting Category Managers with the establishment of Category strategy and plans across the Indirect Procurement Team’s Category remit
- Supporting strategic sourcing initiatives and running some sourcing methods to all appropriate categories of spend
- Using structured and consistent approaches by close collaboration with other members of the Procurement Team
- Contract inclusive of Statement of Work creation and negotiation as well as support urgent stakeholder requests for Supplier contracts or issues
- Support creation of P2P contract catalogues for relevant contracts and suppliers
- Support wider Procurement team with various projects (eg
- document preparation, overall project governance, contract administration, supporting the implementation of supplier relationship management framework related activities) and work closely with key stakeholders within the business to ensure that QBE’s Indirect requirements are understood and met as part of any procurement initiative
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to drive desired business outcomes

About you

You will have broad knowledge of procurement and category management best practice, including procurement strategies, sourcing, negotiation, contract management, supplier management, cost control and business case development and presentation. Good understanding of Indirect Procurement services categories and sub-categories, including market/industry trends, suppliers, internal/external opportunities, and sourcing initiatives

Other requirements for you to be successful
- 2+ years’ experience in procurement preferably within financial services/banking/insurance industries
- Enthusiasm and an ability to learn and adapt quickly to a variety of projects and specific tasks
- Financial modelling and data analysis skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Project management/change management skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (eg
- commerce, business)
