**Planning & Building department is seeking Planning Investigations Officer to join their team in a permanent full-time capacity.**

Planning, Building and Laws portfolio aligns urban planning policy with urban planning delivery and incorporates Banyule’s Statutory Planning Team including subdivision and planning enforcement. Council’s Municipal Building Surveyor and enforcement functions as well a commercial Building Permit Service (Banyule BPi) and Laws which oversees implementation of Council’s Local Law No.1, Domestic Animals legislation, Road Safety legislation and Fire Prevention program across the municipality.

**About the Role**:
In this role, you will be responsible to:

- Investigate complaints relating to non-compliance of Planning Permits or the Banyule Planning Scheme.
- Undertake appropriate actions where breaches are identified.
- Coordinate proactive enforcement of the Banyule Planning Scheme.

**Skills, experience and certificates**:

- Degree or Diploma in planning enforcement, or lesser qualifications with substantial experience in statutory planning or planning enforcement.
- A sound understanding of the Planning Scheme and the Planning and Environment Act 1987, including provisions in relation to enforcement of the Scheme and the Act.
- An ability to display empathy and self-awareness and work with others to achieve a mutually agreeable outcome.
- Previous experience in delivering high-quality fast paced service to diverse customers.
- A high level of professional and personal integrity.
- A high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and industry-related software.
- Proven experience working accurately and efficiently in the maintenance of records.
