We are looking for a proactive and organised **Construction Management Officer**to join our dedicated team, helping to ensure all construction-related activities in Banyule are safe, compliant, and aligned with Council policies and Local Laws.

As a Construction Management Officer, you’ll be the frontline contact for assessing, issuing, and monitoring Construction Local Law Permits. You'll carry out inspections, liaise with various departments, and ensure construction activities on Council land meet safety, environmental and community standards. You’ll
- Efficiently and effectively deliver a construction related Local Law permits service.
- Have responsibility for permit related inspections and the management of information and financials relevant to permits issued.
- Provide effective evaluation, delivery and monitoring of statutory permits and enforcement for Municipal Laws - Construction Management.

This role participates in a rotating after-hours service roster, responding to out-of-hours construction issues (with overtime allowances provided).

**What you'll bring/what we are looking for**

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a visible difference by ensuring our streets, paths and public spaces are safe and well-managed during construction activities. You’ll be supported by an experienced team and provided with training and development to grow your compliance and regulatory expertise.

You’ll have:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Construction, Local Law or construction industry/built environment.
- Local Government experience and extensive knowledge of construction related Local Laws.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to present to and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of roads, related pedestrian and traffic density, buildings in the neighbourhood and construction requirements for road space and experience in traffic management legislation, procedures and requirements.
- Experience in appraisal of temporary structures, scaffold, gantries, prescribed temporary structures and Local Law Permits.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise personal judgement and decision making when undertaking Enforcement / Infringements duties.

**Pre-employment requirements**
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Industry White Card
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check

- A temporary parental leave cover (14 July 2025 to 28 July 2026) full-time position, with a monthly RDO (19-day month).
- Salary $77,785.93 - $90,083.32per annum plus super.
