**The Role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Editor to join SBS News in our newsroom. We care about reaching all Australians - with a strong mandate for news stories that support, celebrate and appreciate the diversity of Australia’s multicultural society.

This is a full-time ongoing role that will involve shift work. Below are the requirements of the role.
- Curating the SBS News home page and other site sections
- Covering breaking news, sending app alerts and operating live blogs
- Using data and analytics tools to help inform editorial choices
- Commissioning stories and guiding journalists to cover the most crucial stories of the day in the absence of the News Editor
- Commissioning visually rich assets to complement stories, and bringing forward ideas for innovative coverage
- Sub-edit copy, videos and social posts as and when necessary

**About you**

- a dedicated and skilled Editor to join the team on a rotating roster to create and edit content for SBS News' Digital platforms.
- a confident and creative Editor with a strong eye for detail and the angles that matter to our audience.
- An understanding of media law, flawless subbing, strong headline writing skills.
- Committed to maintaining our editorial integrity and maximising our publishing reach.
- Demonstrated experience as a Digital Editor for news titles.
- A keen interest in what’s happening in the world to develop storytelling in new and innovative ways to reach and engage wider audiences.
- A passion for providing news for all Australians
- A hunger to understand and share new developments and trends in journalism and digital media.
- Good energy to collaborate across the newsroom to create unique and distinctive content that meets deadlines.
- News happens around the clock and you must be willing and able to undertake hours that may involve early mornings, evenings and weekends.
