**What is the role?**

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the primary responsibility of the role is to ensure the department is effective as possible by balancing the key performance areas of efficiency and accuracy.

Key responsibilities will include managing day to day operations of the department, recruitment and development of staff, liaising with Building Consultants, Supervisors, suppliers and other key stakeholders, and assisting other departments. The role also requires reading and interpreting contract documentation, plans, building processes and procedures, relevant legislation, standards and codes.

Other key duties include:

- Provide guidance and leadership to Estimators and Schedulers with all construction and costing queries
- Mentor and support team members with their development and knowledge of construction and pre-construction processes
- Ensure that all tasks are allocated effectively to meet the department workload
- Establish and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy of documentation and work produced
- Proactively seek opportunities to implement operational and procedural improvements that contribute to our vision and goals
- Establish concise department and individual goals and timelines that align with the broader organisational strategic plan
- Complete accurate and relevant reporting to determine potential areas of improvement and for distribution throughout management team
- Conduct performance reviews and establish training and development plans

**Where do you come in?**
- Demonstrated experience leading a team and holding a team accountable to key performance indicators
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing stakeholders across departments to ensure key processes and deliverables are met
- Extensive experience Scheduling and/or Estimating with a volume builder
- Ability to develop and maintain a high-performance team through strong and positive leadership
- Ability to think strategically, drive and manage change
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering working drawings, soil reports and specifications
- Good understanding of construction methods and the building process
- Strong attention to detail, good organisation and time management skills
- High level of communication skills with a positive and self-motivated attitude
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Building & Construction (desirable)
