**Position Information**:
Alexandria Park Community School is a proud and vibrant Kindergarten to Year 12 community school. There are currently over 1200 students ; approximately 54% of students are from families with language backgrounds other than English and 18% are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school has an Opportunity Class in Year 5 and Year 6 and a Selective Stream in Year 7 to Year 10 for high potential and gifted students. Located on Cadigal land, our vision is to provide a culturally nourishing school, to pay respect, and honour the traditional owners of the land and celebrate our diverse community in all aspects of school life. Alexandria Park Community School includes primary school stage-based learning hubs, flexible high school learning spaces, workshop spaces, a K-12 library, outdoor play spaces including a rooftop playground and agricultural plot, a multipurpose hall, a gymnasium and multiple sports courts. The Primary Support Unit was established in 2023 and the High School Support unit will be opened next year.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/ or experience teaching students with complex needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities. Experience liaising with external agencies and departmental supports.- Expert leadership skills with the ability to lead a newly formed support unit in line with DoE policies to develop and implement high quality differentiated curriculum including Personalised Learning and Support Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and transition planning.
- Enthusiastic proactive leadership with strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to inspire staff, students and parents and build a community and culture of inclusivity; creating collaborative partnerships with families with the best interests of each child at the centre.
- Ability to review and establish school wide systems and procedures that promote inclusive education for all with evidence of resource management and budgeting.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
