About the role
Reporting to the Group Manager - Finance, this leadership role will manage a team of three, driving the delivery of high-quality financial reporting while ensuring compliance with Accounting Standards, Evolution’s Accounting policies, and Joint Venture partner requirements.
This role is instrumental in preparing external financial reporting, including statutory financial statements and JV reporting packs, maintaining the Group general ledger, managing the monthly Group Consolidation process, and refining and ensuring compliance with accounting processes, procedures, and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop an engaged and motivated team to ensure exceptional financial reporting outcomes.
Prepare half-year and year-end financial statements, general purpose statutory reports (including 4E, 4D, Remuneration Report, and OFR), and other external financial reporting.
Prepare and distribute monthly external JV reports, attend relevant JV meetings, and provide financial insights.
Manage the Group month-end financial close, corporate ledger, intercompany processes, and consolidation schedules.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and data integrity.
Act as a key liaison for JV partners on accounting matters, monthly reports, and budget updates.
Address technical accounting issues, judgmental accounting matters, and prepare and review position papers.
Own and maintain Evolution Accounting Standards and Procedures.
Review Group monthly financial results, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues.
Coordinate external audits and support Audit Committee reporting.
Partner with Group Taxation for tax accounting and reporting.
Drive finance improvement initiatives and support entity structure changes, including acquisitions and disposals.
Ensure efficient financial accounting processes by working closely with shared services, payroll, and management accounting teams.
Uphold Evolution Mining values in all aspects of financial leadership and reporting.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be a highly skilled finance professional with strong leadership abilities, technical accounting expertise, and experience in external reporting and JV financial management. You will proactively drive process improvements while fostering stakeholder relationships to enhance the financial integrity of the organization.
**Key Qualifications & Experience**:
Relevant degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance, along with CPA or CA qualification.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
At least 10 years' experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis, ideally with previous Big 4 experience.
Demonstrated people management experience.
Strong expertise in month-end close processes, complex consolidations, general-purpose financial accounts, and Board-level report writing and presentation.
Working knowledge of process improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
In-depth understanding of technical accounting standards, particularly in a mining environment, is highly desirable.
