Industrial Relations Manager

**Your Business**

The Human Resources (HR) team plays a key role in supporting the CBA's Group's strategy by working with our client teams to attract and build talent, develop leaders, drive capability and performance, create a diverse culture, and enhance productivity.

The Everyday People Services (EPS) team provides the Group with HR advisory and operational services across Industrial Relations, Workplace Relations, Employee Benefits, Global Mobility, Health, Safety & Wellbeing, People & Payroll Services, Workforce Analytics, HR Direct, and Workers' Compensation.

**Your Team**

At Commonwealth Bank, our Workplace Relations and Industrial Relations teams are separate, however work closely to deliver for the Group. The broader Industrial Relations Team is responsible for end to end management of industrial relations including overall IR strategy, negotiating and implementing the Group's enterprise agreements, owning and managing the Group's People Policies, ensuring compliance with our employment obligations and monitoring the external IR environment.

**Your Responsibilities**

As this role supports the IR team, it is technical in nature and requires someone who can not only identify an issue but can also document and work with other teams to implement solutions and drive continuous improvement. Whilst advisory on individual matters is required from time to time, this role does not manage individual cases, rather takes a broader view on all IR compliance risks and solutions. Below is a summary of the typical work you'd have the opportunity to lead and manage if successful for this IR Manager role in our IR Operations team:

- Ensure employees are receiving the correct entitlements through executing IR compliance activities, delivering simplification activities, and informing educational opportunities for Employees and People
- Investigate any exceptions identified in assurance activities, resolving individual and systemic causes (including detailing business requirements for system enhancements if required)
- Awareness of legislative change and business readiness activities that may be required

Leadership
- Lead and coach team member/s to support the IR strategy
- Identify, monitor and implement controls to mitigate risk

Advice
- Work with HR teams and business leaders to provide advice on industrial instruments, including resolving complex IR queries relating to the interpretation of the EA and Policy as it applies to specific circumstances
- Seek advice with internal/external legal advisors on complex matters as required
- Facilitate presentations/workshops to different levels of employees across the Group on IR matters
- Design education materials, collateral and training to enable leaders to understand and manage their industrial obligations

Projects & General IR Support
- Lead IR strategic projects with technical support and analytical /data modelling as required.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to manage relationships and expectations while supporting organisational change
- Manage FSU queries impacting individual level issues as they relate to the Fair Work Act and the applicable Group Enterprise Agreements
- Source/Provide analytics to support the IR strategic initiatives
- Support the Group with other activities as required

**Your Skills**
- Experience in the delivery of operational Industrial Relations activities including identifying compliance risks and supporting the business with IR queries and providing IR, policy or HR advice in a large multifaceted organisation
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, including the ability to distil complex policy into simple, easy to understand messages
- Experience with operationally implementing IR changes (to policies, systems and/or processes) for a large organisation
- Solid data analysis skills, to source and use data to identify trends, issues and corrective actions
- Data modelling to input to strategic IR plans and decisions, with impact to >30,000 employees/ multi-million dollar outcomes.
- Solid knowledge of the Australian workplace relations and industrial relations environment
- Risk Mindset -All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
