What will you get to do in your exciting new role?

You will deliver future energy and decarbonisation technical consulting engagements across various clients, including government, power generation, transmission and distribution, transport, defence, water, resources, telecommunications, financiers and more. You will be involved at the front end of the project lifecycle, making meaningful contributions to the direction, value, and impact of cutting-edge energy initiatives for our clients.

The types of engagements our team delivers typically include:

- Strategy formulation and road-mapping
- Project opportunity finding, project development, fatal flaws assessments
- Planning and options development
- Transaction advisory and due diligence
- Concept design and feasibility
- Regulatory and policy technical inputs
- Techno-commercial advisory centred on current and emerging energy systems

The technical focus of our work spans the following technologies and more:

- Large scale power generation (hydro, solar, onshore & offshore wind, energy storage)
- Industry decarbonisation strategies
- Electric vehicle readiness strategies policies and plans
- Microgrids & Distributed Energy Resources concepts for precincts and network businesses
- Renewable Energy Zones across the Australian National Electricity Market and New Zealand
- Green hydrogen, future fuels, and clean manufacturing energy supply concepts
- Transmission and distribution network planning including HVDC optioneering

What are we looking for from you?

We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s economic development and, it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are the key things you will need to have in order to ‘bring ideas to life’.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science or a related discipline
- Exceptional communication, presentation, team working and report writing skills
- Relevant experience in the energy sector or energy related projects
- Project management experience
- Broader professional or consulting experience

Technical experience in the following areas would be viewed favourably:

- Knowledge of major technical elements of transmission connections, together with process and regulatory requirements for, and operations of transmission and distribution networks and grid connections
- Able to follow the cost estimation guidelines using standardized tools to create high level parametric cost estimates for transmission connection assets
- Knowledge and potentially experience with NEM grid documentation such TAPR, DAPR, AEMO ISP, AEMO ratings, AEMO SLD, AEMO Generation info, GIS information of grid and generation, and ability to interpret the advice provided within them.
- An understanding of the concepts and worked calculations (where applicable) for MLF, curtailment, system strength, short circuit ratio and similar relevant metrics
- Familiarity with the core technical building blocks of transmission and distribution systems: transformers, circuit breakers, standard bay arrangements, overhead and underground lines with their typical uses
- Ability to articulate the connection process, key risks, and mitigations
