Both divisions offer a broad range of merchandise across apparel, jewellery, homewares, craft, bed linen, electronics, books, entertainment and pets. Products are sourced through well-established international and local supply chains.
Our people are the heart and soul of our business. Due to continuous growth, we are looking for an experienced **Facilities & Building Manager** to join our team.
**THE ROLE**:
The primary function of the **Facilities & Building Manager** the ongoing provision of professional level support, facilitation and advice to the wider Direct Group community in relation to building management and general maintenance.
**Responsibilities include but not limited to**:
- Build and maintain a trusted partnership and coaching relationship with leaders to drive the execution of agreed initiatives and strategies including contractor management
- Provide expert and relevant building and maintenance advice and support to managers and employees
- Provide ongoing coaching to supervisors and managers regarding building and maintenance and upholding appropriate safety standards in the workplace
- Provide insight and analysis on building and maintenance data and metrics
- Provide high level strategic advice on current and emerging legislative and industry-wide facilities related issues
- Monitor, review and drive the implementation of the Direct Group management systems
- Responsible for ensuring building and maintenance issues are appropriately escalates and reported within the Direct Group and with the relevant external party
- Participate and contribute to working parties and committees as required
- Maintaining and developing supplier and contracts service agreements
- Develop annual budget submissions for the Direct Group’s facilities requirements and exercise control measures as necessary to ensure works are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct high level negotiations with external providers of facilities management services to achieve prompt, reliable, cost effective, quality services
- Where required, negotiate rental and lease contracts with external agents and vendors to ensure cost effective, low risk terms
- Where required, prepare proposals for capital expenditure and minor works, using cost-benefit analysis techniques to enable timely decision making by senior management and to ensure consistency with budget
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of best practice WHS processes, management system and results.
- Ensure all buildings meet essential service maintenance requirements and all facilities are WHS compliant
- Effective management of security and emergency functions to optimize levels of operational performance
- Co-ordinate the development and updating of fire and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure engaged contractors comply with all prevailing WHS laws, Regulations and applicable Codes of Practice and Standards, including their responsibility to notify the state WHS Regulatory Authority of incidents as required
**What you’ll bring to the role**:
- Qualification relevant to facility management or construction project management, together with relevant experience and proven management expertise
- Project Management knowledge, qualification and/or experience
- Prioritise activities while managing multiple competing demands
- Work autonomously with limited direction
- Effectively manage contractors
- Strong communication skills
- 3-5 years’ experience in similar role
