ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Audible Content team works with world-class creative talent across the Asia Pacific region to create groundbreaking, multi-language entertainment for local audiences in Australia, Japan and India, and for listeners of our global service at large.
The Associate Director, Originals, APAC, will support the commissioning of Audible’s slate of Original content across the region, working with the APAC Content Programming and Creative Development teams, on an initial 12 month contract. The Associate Director, Originals, APAC, acts as an essential and objective bridge between these two teams, to support the review and assessment of Original Content opportunities against creative and programming goals. The Associate Director, Originals, APAC, will recommend what is commissioned and the parameters of each commissioned project. They work in partnership with the APAC Content Programming, Creative Development and Production teams, as well as Audible’s Business Affairs, Legal and Finance teams.
This contract is based in Audible’s Sydney office and reports to the Head of Regional Content APAC.

As the Associate Director, Original, APAC, you will...
- Partner with the Creative Development lead and participate in the solicitation and discovery of new concepts and content/talent opportunities from producers, creators and talent
- Develop and recommend a commissioning assessment standard for content opportunities, ensuring that commissioned works demonstrate a distinct quality of storytelling and achieve business goals
- Develop and implement a commissioning process that drives efficiencies in deal making and contracting, in partnership with key APAC content stakeholders and external parties, e.g.: Creators
- Collaborate on budget development for commissioned works with cross-functional Content stakeholders
- Manage commissioning roadmaps, setting expectations with all relevant stakeholders
- Partner with the APAC Content Programming team and contribute to the Originals strategy, leveraging data, audience and trend research, to better inform original content commissioning and decision-making
- Participate in slate planning with APAC Content Programming team, to ensure commissioned Audible Original titles work in sync with marketplace content slates against marketplace level goals
- At times, work as an Executive Producer across Audible Original formats and genres, supporting all creative aspects involved in the creation of a title including reviewing submissions, providing script editing suggestions, providing recommendations on talent selection, conducting post production audio reviews and other development support as required for both in-house and 3rd party projects

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in creative development and commissioning roles for leading Entertainment services
- Experienced with understanding of audience and Entertainment trends in APAC and a passion for learning about new audience and Entertainment trends as they arise
- Understanding of legal, operational and financial aspects of commissioning
- Demonstrates a deep and expansive network in local creative and talent communities across the region, with particular roots in the Australian creator/talent community
- Experience slate building across genres in entertainment, including both scripted and non-scripted storytelling
- Understanding of journalism ethics
- Oral and written communication skills with a strong background in business writing
