About the role
The Associate Director, Origination role reports directly to the Senior Director, Origination and is part of the Housing Capital Solutions and Partnerships team. The role is responsible for originating, structuring, and negotiating deals with Community Housing Providers (CHPs), States and Territories, and private investors to deliver affordable housing outcomes while balancing Housing Australia's commercial, policy and risk considerations.
Key responsibilities
- Engaging with Community Housing Providers (CHPs) and eligible applicants, to promote our finance products and provide education and assistance in relation to financing
- Originating transactions consistent with our credit underwriting guidelines
- Overseeing financial, technical and regulatory due diligence including financial modelling and analysis
- Identifying key risks and making recommendations for transaction structures
- Overseeing the preparation of succinct credit applications and reviewing facility documentation
- Working collaboratively with key internal and external business partners and stakeholders, including the CHP's business partners, state government and other parties involved in the transactions, as well as legal counsel, our credit and treasury teams, and other finance providers
- Presenting transactions to our senior credit executives and Credit and Investment Committees.
- To carry out transaction responsibilities in accordance with the Transaction Lead Responsibility Statement
- Where you are a Team Management Stream Leader, actively leading the implementation of agreed initiatives, refreshing Stream Plans on an annual basis and coordinating stream team member activities to deliver on agreed plans
- Where you are a Team Management Stream Member, actively supporting the Stream Leader to design and deliver against Stream Plans, working closely with other Stream Members to ensure best practice approaches for the benefit of the team and Housing Australia
Skills and experience
- 5+ years' experience in corporate lending, preferably with exposure to residential development or infrastructure finance transactions
- Sound appreciation of credit risk, including a strong understanding of cashflow lending and corporate finance
- High level written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in community housing financing or understanding of its regulatory environment is desirable.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, law, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred
