
English Language Program Team Leader Support

**Minimum commitment**: 6 months
**Days and hours required per week**: 5 hours a week.
Days negotiable.
**Location**:Majority of hours can be completed remotely online with some face to face engagement with volunteer teachers required at Newtown.
**Key Responsibilities**:
This role is Second In Charge (2IC) to the Team Leader English Language Program and provides coverage as needed of the following Team Leader tasks:
- Implement English Program Intake, Language Assessment and Class Allocation processes
- Refer prospective students to approved external service providers as required
- Build a collegial relationship with a team of volunteers, qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and support them with additional ESL resources, information, and troubleshooting
- Support Line Manager to facilitate regular meetings with the teaching team
- Collaborate with Line Manager to collect and record student and facilitator feedback for the purposes of continuously improving the English program, including an annual survey
- Contribute to English Service Map by adding information about new or changing English service providers that might be of benefit to people seeking asylum.
- Escalate internal referrals to Line Manager when students require support beyond their language needs
- Meet regularly with Line Manager providing quality, timely updates
- Promptly raise any concerns pertaining to client or teacher welfare with Line Manager
- Other as reasonably requested by the Line Manager.
**Preferred Requirements**:
- Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of the Education sector, with strong understanding of the needs of adult and second language learners
- Ability to lead a group of volunteers, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Ability to adhere to policies in relation to code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality.

- The Volunteer will receive a thorough induction and orientation to their role and to ASC including a detailed Workplace, Health & Safety briefing.
