ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Support Workers actively engage the people we support in their daily living, building their capacity & independence, supporting them with their recovery journey. Our SIL home in
**Carlton **provides 24/7 residential support for young adults (18-35) who primarily have a diagnosis of
**Autism **but may also have a Psychosocial Disability, an Intellectual Disability, Mental Health and/or Physical Health need. Our team models positive social behaviours, implements behaviour support strategies and builds positive relationships with the consumer's circles of support, creating the supportive environment for residents to build on their skills and achieve their goals.

This current opportunity is
**Part Time**, increasing to between 16-36 hours per week across a 24/7 roster as new housemates move in.

**tarting remuneration is based on relevant skills and experience** in line with the SCHADS Award, plus allowances, leave loading, superannuation & salary packaging

- Responsibilities_
**_:_**
- Building the capacity, routine, social skills & independent living skills of the people we support by supporting them to complete daily activities (e.g. domestic, health, social, community access)
- Building rapport and managing challenging behaviours by following established plans
- Providing support to attend regular meetings with case managers and health professionals
- Writing accurate case notes and recording them using the online ICLA client management system
- Enabling the social inclusion of ICLA clients in the community
- Maintaining infection control measures and adapting to evolving Covid-19 requirements.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Essential Criteria_
- Proven experience working with young adults with **complex mental health needs** &/or **Autism** with patience & empathy
- Enthusiastic about building the capacity of young adults with psychosocial disabilities through **person-centred active support**.
- Understanding of & commitment to the value brought by consumer's circles of support
- Adaptability, reflective approach, growth-mindset and a willingness to learn in a changing environment
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including adaptability to different communication needs, self-awareness of social behaviour, high quality written documentation and ability to build trust and rapport
- Strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking and ability to follow a plan
- Proven understanding of professional boundaries and experience clearly implementing & reinforcing
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Right to work in Australia
- A current driver's license and confidence driving in Sydney
- Current NDIS Check or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
- First Aid & CPR Certificate or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
- Your own smartphone/device to access our apps for managing work information (training will be provided)
- Desirable:_
- Experience working in a residential care environment
- Experience supporting people who have psychosocial disabilities
- Relevant qualification or work experience in mental health or disability support
