The Australian Museum is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Cultural Advisor First Nations to join our team
**About the Role**
- The Cultural Advisor, First Nations at the Australian Museum is responsible for developing and delivering authentic First Nations content across the museum's education programs. This role involves building and maintaining positive relationships with First Nations communities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and providing cultural advice to ensure that educational activities authentically embed First Nations perspectives. The advisor will also assist in supporting learning programs, ensuring that content is culturally sensitive, creative, and accessible, particularly for early years and regional audiences.
- Main priority activities
- Work with the Regional Education Lead to establish and build relationships with community to support the pilot Preschool Loans Program.
- Collaborate with the Regional Education Lead and Education Project Officers to create First Nations content and resources for the pilot Preschool Loans Program.
- Support the Manager, First Nations Education and Education Project Officer, First Nations to embed First Nations perspectives across education programs and activities.
- Employment Status:
- Clerk Grade 5/6
- Fixed term
- Part-time, 28 hours / 4 days per week
- Period of engagement: until 30 June 2025 with possibility of extension (funding dependent)

- Role Description
- You will be paid a competitive annual salary rate $97,027 - $107,059, pro-rated, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 11.5%) and annual leave loading.
**About you**
**Knowledge & Experience**
- Working with First Nations content in a detailed and trusted manner that reflects First Nations self-determination
- Consultation with First Nations communities and organisations
- Experience working within a cultural or education institution
- Experience creating content for a variety of audiences
**Essential requirements**
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent - Aboriginality/Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or extensive experience in a similar role.
- Hold a valid NSW Working with Children Clearance
