**About this role**

Do you find purpose in leading change? As our First Nations Leader, you will provide leadership on projects, on how to improve outcomes, with a focus on increasing Arup’s positive impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples affected by our projects. You will also grow a team that will deliver on the appropriate engagement with strategic pursuits, proposals and projects including, but not limited to, the appropriate engagement with Traditional Custodians; the management of Indigenous Intellectual Cultural property; and alignment with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, The Uluru Statement from the Heart, and with government legislation and policy (including, but not limited to, the National Partnership Agreement on Closing the Gap).

**What will I do?**
- Lead the change needed in project delivery processes to prioritise ‘connecting with Country”
- Adopt a ‘community’ and ‘client first’ approach to engagements and understands the client’s commercial aspirations and business needs to become involved in the decision-making process.
- Input into the overall business operating plan and pursues strategic marketing opportunities and puts together tenders for projects covering different resources and locations, considering both the cost and benefit to Arup.
- Build strategic relationships with clients, industry peer groups, regulators and the public both within Australasia and internationally
- Take responsibility for project team performance and ensure that training resources are available to maximise people development.

**What will I bring?**
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications or relevant consulting industry, government, or community experience in the built environment, social or environmental sustainability, change management, business, governance, or cultural studies.
- Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership, as well as proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
- A keen understanding of community and client needs (both internal and external), and the issues which may impact on maintaining effectiveness within a commercial environment.
- The ability to relate and work well with people across Arup and within the wider office, as well as externally with communities and clients.
- The ability to maintain personal effectiveness and team relationships at times of significant pressure.
