**ABOUT THE BRANCH**

The Procurement and Discretionary Payments Branch (PDPB) oversees and maintains the Australian Government’s procurement policy framework. PDPB provides advice on the underpinning requirements of the CPRs and related policies and practice to Parliament, the Minister for Finance and other key internal and external stakeholders. PDPB participates in and advises on international trade negotiations in relation to government procurement and manages the whole-of-Government systems AusTender and GrantConnect.

The Branch provides guidance and advice to procuring entities and develops and maintains a number of self-help tools for use by Australian Government entities. The Branch works closely with entities seeking to develop and implement guidance and policies that leverage the procurement framework. The Branch manages an extensive outreach program, which includes Procurement Agency Advice, the Procurement Coordinator function and the Chief Procurement Officers Roundtable.

The Branch also manages act of grace payments and waivers of Commonwealth debts under the _Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013_.

**OPPORTUNITY**

The Procurement and Trade Policy teams work in a dynamic environment, liaising with a variety of both public and private sector stakeholders.

As an Assistant Director within the team, you will be responsible for:

- the stewardship of the Framework, including the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, Finance’s Procurement Policy website and Finance guidance materials such as Resource Management Guides and Procurement Guidance Notes
- driving positive change and continuous improvement of the Framework
- assisting entities in the development of a broad range of government policies that interact with the Framework
- developing and leading a small team in the delivery of policy objectives and projects
- providing advice to other areas of Finance and the Australian Public Service where their work interacts with the Framework
- assisting entities and stakeholders to better understand the Framework through development and delivery of a number of projects
- drafting submissions to government, policy papers and correspondence, including Ministerial briefs and letters.
