Medical Secretary

Your role at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital

Provide a high standard of secretarial and administrative support to the visiting medical specialists (VMOs) who use the sessional suites.

The Position- Under the direction of the Team Leader, provides a high level of secretarial and reception function to VMOs and patients of the practice. Ensures that all appropriate administrative processes are carried out to ensure that patients are adequately prepared for their outpatient appointments and/or in patient hospitalisation.- Practice communication - phone, reception, correspondence and patient information.- Operating list administration for patients - scheduling and liaising with hospital staff and other personnel.- Liaising with various hospital departments as required to facilitate patient bookings.- Organising / booking referrals i.e. xray, ultrasound, CT scanning, MRI, other consultants as required.- Medical and other secretarial typing as required.- Ensure consulting and examination rooms are set up, in accordance with preference sheet, ready for commencement of next session.- Accurate patient record keeping as required.- Accurate Patient billing and revenue collection.- Medical billing and related administration for a variety of doctors to ensure integrity of the patient medical records.- All other reasonable duties as directed by the Team Leader or Director Business Development.

You will have highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills along with demonstrated ability to organise work priorities and meet deadlines.

To succeed you will possess intermediate and advanced MS office skills with attention to detail and accuracy. You will also have the ability to work in a team environment to enhance efficiency, quality and overall patient, VMO and caregiver experience.

Previous medical secretarial experience and a knowledge of medical terminology will be highly regarded.
