An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Gas Turbines and Distributed Generation team based at our Cockburn Power Station. Reporting to the Production Coordinator you will be a part of a team to provide real time management, operation, maintenance and first line response of power station plant and ancillary equipment to ensure safety of personnel and plant adhered to statutory requirements and support of Synergy’s objectives.
We’re looking for inspiring people who will:
- Maintain a safe working environment and safe work systems.
- Operate the Cockburn Combined Cycle Power Station in accordance with safety standards, compliance with statutory requirements, efficient production and asset optimisation.
- Operation of the power plant in accordance with Synergy’s operating procedures and standards.
- Respond to power station emergencies through crisis management processes.
- Review operating and safety procedures to achieve best practice standards.
- Managing own work and coordinating the work of other Synergy employees to provide optimal power production to meet Branch and Synergy’s goals.
- Management of permits in accordance with permit to work systems.
- Execution of High Voltage switching programmes to allow for outages, Maintenance activities or in emergency situations
- Be involved in the planning and implementation of Cockburn outages and ensuring power plant activities are scheduled in accordance with approved programmes
- Support of the power generating systems to ensure planned outputs are met
- Undertake technical or operational investigations on performance levels or faults, to optimise Cockburn Combined Cycle power station usage and value
- Ensure plant operation to comply with environmental license and conditions
- Undertake technical or operational investigations on performance faults to optimise Cockburn combine cycle power station usage and value
- Trade certificate or technical qualifications in relevant discipline
- Certificate IV in ESI Generation Operations or Equivalent.
- Appropriate WorkSafe certification for Boiler and Turbine operations
- Drivers Licence - Class C or C-A
- Previous experience in the control and operation of boilers and turbines in a Gas Turbine Combined Cycle or thermal power station
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities when operating plant and responding to reactive tasks
- Effective communication skills and ability to articulate operational and technical information
Additionally, relevant industry experience and knowledge of the following would be highly regarded:
- Previous operational experience and knowledge of Gas Turbine Combined Cycle or thermal power station operations processes and practices
- GE/Alstom GT 13E2 Combined Cycle control systems and operation.
- Electrical workers license or a diploma in engineering electrical or mechanical would be highly regarded
