The Qantas Group has a proud history of innovation and this continues with the introduction of the next-generation narrow-body aircraft, the Airbus A220.
The A220 is part of a multi-billion dollar renewal investment of the Qantas’ domestic fleet. The A220 is being introduced in line with the fleet renewal program for the Boeing 717 on regional QantasLink routes and may in time fly short-range international routes.
The A220 is considered one of the world’s most modern, small, single-aisle aircraft and features state-of-the art design interior and exterior, complimented by technology and passenger comfort.
Be part of the inaugural Project Team
With the Qantas Group’s initial Airbus A220 order for 20 of the larger A220-300 models, the project team is responsible for guaranteeing a safe, operationally resilient and economic Entry into Service (EIS). This is a unique opportunity within the aviation industry to support the new fleet enter Australia for the first time. The project team will work with an approximate 18-month lead time before the first flight is expected. The team will be supported by specialized expertise from both within the current B717 operations team and the broader Qantas Group.
The expertise required in the project:
- Flight Operations Entry into Service (EIS) comprising of leadership and coordinator level roles in safety, training, operations, fleet standards and quality assurance.- Cabin Crew Operations EIS comprising of leadership and coordinator level roles in training and cabin crew operations.- Ground Operations comprising of training and below the wing ramp operations.- Engineering comprising of safety leadership, reliability, MIS and Records, procurement, support and learning content.- Safety and Human Resources including Risk Management, Change and Communications and senior HR generalist.

What roles are on offer?
Cabin Crew Operations- Cabin Crew Training Manager A220 - This position reports to Cabin Crew Operations Manager A220 and will be responsible for establishing the implementation of the training framework, planning, courseware to enable Cabin Crew Operational readiness for entry into service. The role will also support the transition and integration of Cabin Crew Training A220 protocols into the base business for a seamless utlisation.- Cabin Crew Operations Manager A220 - This role is accountable for the safe, efficient and compliant introduction of the A220 Aircraft into the Cabin Crew Operations within the entity, ensuring AOC regulatory and Qantas requirements are met. The position will be responsible for managing Cabin Crew leaders, ensuring the use of safety systems, policy and meet required operating standards.- Cabin Crew Manager A220 - Permanent role. The Cabin Crew Manager A220 is a non-flying role and is responsible for managing the employment relationship for a team of Cabin Crew. This role is integral to ensuring a continual focus on people and operational safety, service and productivity, whilst cultivating a high-performance culture amongst a large, diverse and industrialized workforce. The CCBM will lead and manage a small team of Senior Base Cabin Crew to support in executing this function.- Cabin Crew Training Advisors - This role has accountability for the A220 EIS Cabin Crew training program. This includes leading and managing the successful delivery of this training, including cabin crew training manuals and training policy development, management of resources to provide such training, and supporting the development of regulatory approvals.
Flight Operations- Pilot Base Manager - Permanent role. The Base Manager is accountable for the Leadership of A220 Flight Crew (Pilots). This includes but is not limited to developing and implementing local business operations plans which ensures the achievement of transformation and cost initiatives, management of standards and performance, managing local budgets, overseeing day of operations and customer experiences relating to Technical Crew.- Fleet Technical Manager A220 EIS - This role has accountability to the Senior Fleet Manager A220 EIS for the full EIS flight operations technical program within the Qantas Group. This includes leading and managing the successful delivery of this fleet including manual and policy development, IT change management for aircraft operations, long term techni
