**Tax Specialist - Tax Risk Management**

Our client is a top 20 ASX listed organisation and global market leader with offices all over the world. Due to some movements within the team, we have a position available initially on a 6 month contract (with a high chance of extension and even permanent down the track) within the Tax Risk Management Team.

Reporting to the Tax Manager, the primary purpose of this role is as follows:

- Day to day communication with the allocated business units on income tax related matters
- Preparation of tax advice, and supporting documents
- Perform and review Tax Effect Accounting calculations
- Income Tax Compliance (preparation of tax returns, PAYGI etc.)
- Supporting our relationship with the ATO by drafting RFI responses
- Supporting other streams of tax through drafting documentation and advice and undertaking research
- Contributing to the development of new technology and procedures to minimise risk and maximise efficiency

Key Accountabilities:

- Ensuring Global Tax Group policies are followed in relation to positions taken in tax returns and group accounts
- Development and maintain strong working relationships with members of the broader Global Tax Team, Finance Teams and relevant site personnel
- Preparation of income tax advice and supporting work papers for transactions and/or projects as required including preparation of accounting/tax advice papers, system changes and group/ATO reporting outcomes
- Identify and escalate areas of tax risk and/or process inefficiency
- Preparation of Income Tax Returns for specified entities / operating sites, including consolidation adjustments
- Preparation of tax effect accounting calculations for allocated entities/BU's for plan, provision, statutory and tax returns including review and reconciliations of tax payments, franking accounts and dividend payments
- Reviewing project and asset capitalisations
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements
- Provide assistance to the different streams of tax on an as needs basis
- Compiling information for past or future transactions for external stakeholders (Audit, ATO)
- Review of FBT returns for specified entities / operating sites
- Preparation of IDS disclosures and transfer pricing documentation
- Identification and implementation of process improvements
- Liaise with external consultants as required
- Promote tax awareness through provision of education and advice to business personnel, including members of the BU and GBS Finance Teams and relevant site personnel
- Document BU specific procedures to ensure that accountabilities are discharged in the most efficient and timely manner
- Be a leader among peers by demonstrating best practice and continuously seeking efficiency and improvement.
- Contribute to the training schedule of the team by presenting training, identifying relevant external training opportunities and facilitating training delivered by RT employees from areas other than tax.
- College/University Education: Commerce, Taxation or Law Degree required.
- Other Qualifications: CPA, CTA or CAANZ qualification required.
- 3+ years experience working in Australian Corporate Tax either within a Big 4/Top 10 accounting firm or a large corporate environment
- The ability to quickly develop an understanding of the commercial operations and business context
- The ability to meet deadlines and provide advice in a timely basis
- The ability to professionally and effectively interface with senior management and operational personnel
- Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Leadership ability
- Ability to negotiate outcomes with the BU finance teams
- A high level of motivation and commitment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop intermediate knowledge of accounting and reporting systems is required, SAP & HFM experience is an advantage
- Ability to design tools and processes to increase efficiency
- Willingness to travel to operations
