This position works collaboratively in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team and provides
project and business support across a range of programs and functions with the areas of
urban planning and heritage.

The role involves high levels of organisation and time management, the ability to
understand and appreciate legislative requirements, and developed communication skills
to correspond within Council and with the community via a range of media.

**RELATIONSHIPS
**Reports to**:(Position Title)**:Manager, City Planning

**Report to: (Position Number) **P00019 with functional responsibilities to the
Program Leader, Business & Systems

**Staff Responsibility**:Nil

**Key Internal Relationships**:A broad cross section of other staff within the
Council

**Key External Relationships**:Stakeholders, residents, external agencies,
consultants, community groups, advisory groups,
government departments

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the logistics, scheduling, minutes and records of meetings and proceedings

associated with internal and external stakeholders, including the Blue Mountains
Heritage Advisory Committee and community consultative events for key urban
planning projects.
- Prepare communication materials for community consultation processes (both virtual

and face-to-face) including working with the team to write copy, edit material and
analyse consultation results.
- Assist in research, information analysis and review.
- Process requisitions and payment of accounts.
- Remain alert to business situations (risks and opportunities) and develop strategies in

collaboration with key teams to drive success.
- Follow up action on correspondence, enquiries, and resolutions of the Council.
- Participate in systems development for management of processes and workflows
- Support key deliverables and systems improvements including database management

and team processes.

**Workplace Health & Safety**_ _

Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
in accordance with safety instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied
for the job, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal
protective equipment, which the Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety
aware and report any actions to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet
its legal workplace health and safety obligations.

You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are required
at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.

**COMMUNICATION**

Well developed, verbal and written communication skills are required at a high level that
enhances and supports technical staff in a multi-disciplinary project management
environment. The position involves communication, verbal and written, at all levels within
the Directorate, across Council, government agencies, businesses and with the
community.

**JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING**

A degree of independence and autonomy is required in making decisions in relation to
work priorities within agreed projects and guidelines. Judgement and problem-solving
skills are utilised to initiate change and improve work arrangements and to assess several
options to determine the best way forward.

**AUTHORITY**

The position is fully accountable for daily decisions made in conjunction with
responsibilities, and accountable for project-based workflows. The position is required to
complete work that has various levels of complexity.

**SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

a related field.
