**POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE**
Blue Mountains City covers the traditional lands of the Dharug and Gundungurra First Nations
people.
The Visitor Economy Service has focused on building opportunities with Traditional Custodians
and the local First Nations Community with successful expansion of local Indigenous product
sales and visibility across the Visitor Information Centres.
The Visitor Experience Officer will work with Traditional Custodians, the local First Nations and
broader community following cultural requirements to identify, develop, source and coordinate
Indigenous led opportunities to deliver destination products including retail products for sale
through the Visitor Information Centres and other Council facilities.

**Key External Relationships**:Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Custodians
(individuals and groups), organisations representing
First Nations peoples, and individuals of the City’s First
Nations community, Government agencies and other
external stakeholders.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Visitor Experience Officer is responsible for:
- Develop authentic, reliable First Nations and other tourism product that meets visitor
demand while delivering on Aboriginal Advisory Councils Pathways Strategic plan and
BMCC’s Statement of Recognition and Commitment, strengthening the resilience of the
community through truth telling, knowledge sharing, commitment and mutual respect.
- Mentor and support First Nations and other creatives and artists in development of
product, packaging and price.
- Source and develop new and established supplier agreements, in consultation with the
Visitor Experience Coordinator, assist in the display and promotion of First Nations
products, artworks and experiences including workshops.
- Assist in seeking funding through state and federal grant programs to facilitate the
development of First Nations and other cultural opportunities while relieving pressure on
operational budgets.
- Contribute to achieving the vision and objectives of the THRIVE objectives of the
Community Service Plan 2035, and the Destination Management Plan 2025.
- Assist in the creation of comms and marketing plans to ensure promotion of the products
and workshops.
- Provide administration and project support to the Visitor Economy team.

**WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY**

obligations.
