Head of Product

**Role purpose**:
The position will play a key role managing the profitable performance of Allianz Partners, providing a strong framework of Product Management across the Travel line of business, and driving the Group principle of ‘Total Simplicity’. The role will also ensure adherence to the Product Governance Framework for all products and that all changes implemented to products are compliant with external regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the Australia Executive Head of Travel with a matrix reporting line to the Regional Head of Product & UW APAC, the GM of Product & Product governance for Travel plays a key strategic role in ensuring the financial stability and profitable growth of Allianz Partners.

**Role responsibilities include**:
**Leadership**:

- Leading the Product team in product management, policy wording drafting and implementation, product development, and adherence to Governance standards at both a Client and Portfolio level
- Contribute to the overall strategic planning process to enable the company to maximise business opportunities.
- Identify, analyse and provide recommendations on product strategies and are aligned to the company’s strategic direction
- Delivery of the financial plan and targets for Travel line of business.
- Localise, communicate, implement and review product strategies and policies to optimise AWP’s risk profile.
- Attract, retain and develop quality staff with a strong focus on AWP’s leadership values and people attributes.
- Demonstrate leadership in the company and industry groups on relevant issues, providing support to the Executive on issues as required.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement in technical product & product governance capability, and execution

**Product & Governance**:

- Product development that delivers sustainable customer-centric outcomes to reflect current or future regulatory legislation and/or changing market conditions.
- Ensure that any product development, modification or termination is undertaken in accordance with the Product Governance Framework
- Monitor regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate documentation protocols are maintained.
- Ensure the AzP product suite aligns to the Group principle of ‘Total Simplicity’ and any deviations are authorized.
- In conjunction with Sales and Product and Innovation teams, provide recommendations for development of new products, and product alterations in alignment with strategy.
- Provide governance and oversight of our Underwriting Agency Obligations with our Insurer/Fronter ( AAIL), manage day to day product relationship including product council process
- Manage the Product Catalogue to ensure business functionality fulfils compliance requirements under the Corporations Act (FSRA).
- Identify regulatory changes affecting AAL products and provide insights to support change management processes.
- Ensure compliance with Allianz Partners and Allianz SE product standards and guidelines.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry accepted standards and best practice and leverage on experience to influence standards as the AAL representative.
- Maintain quality of documentation ensuring all relevant manuals, guidelines, and documents are current.

**Risk & Compliance**:

- Adhere to the risk management and compliance obligations and comply with policies, processes and training requirements.
- Integrate compliance obligations, risk assessment and the risk management process into internal business practices.
- Identify, document and communicate risk and compliance exposures in operational areas, including rates updates and testing.
- Propose changes to existing or introduction of new policies and procedures to optimise and manage the risk related to product & underwriting.

**Stakeholder relationships**:

- Group, Management Committees, Senior Management Team: Provide thought leadership and guidance on product governance matters, supporting key initiatives at AzP and enabling these groups to fulfil their respective roles/functions.
- Corporate Governance, Legal, Risk & Compliance: Identify regulatory changes affecting AzP products and provide insights to support change management processes
- Fronting Partner(s) - Allianz Australia (AAIL) functions and teams who authorize the development of travel products including the Technical, Legal, and Risk and Compliance.
- Regulators, Government Agencies and/or Government-owned Entities: Respond to enquiries / requests for information and facilitate regular and statutory reporting, on-site reviews, demonstrating good corporate citizenship.
- Significant insurance experience together with Degree or insurance qualification or working towards that qualification.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance products & portfolio management/claims role, future strategies, competitor products and the insurance industry.
