Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Band 5 Asset Protection Officer for a 7-month temporary contract assignment

**About the role**:
Work in alliance between the public and council ensuring efficient and equitable implementation and compliance with asset protection permits. You will also promote compliance on all building sites under the conditions of those permits, Council’s Local Laws and other legislation associated with building sites.

This will be an initial temporary contract for 7 months with potential to extend beyond.

**Duties will include but not limited to**:

- Enforcement of all relevant current Local Laws, Statutes, Regulations and Permit conditions associated with Building Sites
- Patrolling of building sites to ensure safety and compliance of legislation
- Be familiar with and enforce the provisions of the Local Government Act 1989, and any other Act, Regulation or Local Law which relates to the functions and power of Council as an Authorised Officer
- Tactfully and efficiently deal with inquiries in relation to matters in which the department is involved
- Ensure that all administrative tasks associated with the issue of permits, notices, infringements or summonses are efficiently carried out
- Administration duties associated with asset protection permits

**Requirements include**:

- Effective negotiation and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages together with proficient computer skills, and the ability to work in a digital environment
- Ability to understand and operate administrative procedures
- Sound knowledge of any Act, Regulation or local law which relates to the functions of Council
- Working knowledge of Court preparation and proceedings and the ability to present evidence in court and prepare investigational reports and briefs
- Ability to manage time, set priorities and plan and organise one’s own tasks within set time frames
- Ability to achieve objectives within specific timeframes and conflicting pressures
- Ability to solve minor problems through discussion and teamwork
