An exciting opportunity for a population health professional to be a part of a team within the Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) that supports and coordinates improved population health and prevention efforts across the eight local government areas in the WPHU catchment.

As a member of the team, you will have a chance to work in collaboration with key partners using a systems approach to deliver high impact initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of our community; with the team’s current priorities being healthy eating and food systems, reducing vaping-related harm, and the impact of climate change on health.

Your role, working within the multidisciplinary public health team includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

- place-based health promotion and prevention at a population level;
- systems-based approach to co-design of interventions;
- focus on initiatives to reduce health inequities in the catchment;
- partnership development and maintenance;
- community engagement in collaboration with the Community Engagement team within WPHU;
- education and other public health activities with a focus on primary prevention;
- effective interaction/liaison with multidisciplinary teams;
- excellent communication skills both written and verbal; and,
- accurate and timely documentation.

You must have:

- Undergraduate qualification in public health, health promotion or related health field
- Demonstrate knowledge required to coordinate population health promotion activities including knowledge of planning, implementation, community engagement, co-design and evaluation
- Understand contemporary health promotion practice including systems thinking, collective impact, settings and place-based approaches
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, IT literacy and social media skills in the context of health promotion
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence
