As part of the energy transition for transport fuels, Ampol is looking to develop new positions in the energy markets outside of its traditional liquid fuels market and the growth focus will be into electricity. Energy Transition and Decarbonisation is one of Ampol’s four strategic pillars, a key priority area that will help ensure we deliver on our purpose to ‘power better journeys today and tomorrow’.

**About the role**:
The role can be based in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne and includes a hybrid working option dependent on scheduled delivery outcomes and stakeholder engagement requirements.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Identify technical energy metering requirements across both electricity and gas from physical meter deployment to data handling
- Define business requirements for compliant, safe and timely metering solutions delivery
- Ensure on-market and sub-metered billing channels are delivered by metering partners
- Collaborate with industry partners including appointed metering coordinators and lead proofs of concept with industry innovators to establish accuracy requirements of new services (eg. Virtual power plants, market ancillary services)

**About you**:
You will have at least 3 years’ experience with a retailer or Metering Service Provider and ideally this will include experience with embedded networks, deploying sub-metered and/or off-market metering solutions.

Your enthusiasm for growth will be supported as well by a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a Masters or PHD in a related field.

**Key skills and experience**:

- Subject matter expert knowledge in energy metering requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding and experience with embedded networks.
- Comprehensive understanding of the metering requirements under the National Electricity Rules (NER).
- Capability in electrical system design, reading and writing electrical schematics and single and three-phase low voltage power systems engineering.
- Understanding of metering requirements and participants in the National Electricity and gas Markets.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across various teams to drive outcomes.
