Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Director - Inclusion on a Non Ongoing contract for 12 months.
**Position Overview**
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**_The Assistant Director, Inclusion will:_**
- lead, coach, and mentor a busy team operating in a fast-paced work environment and deliver on competing priorities, including establishing expectations, scheduling, and reviewing work, managing improvement initiatives and resources, giving effective feedback, and mentoring and developing employees
- work with the Indigenous Liaison Officer and network members to lead the development of the department’s first RAP and uplift cultural capability within the department through cultural awareness training, advice, and activities
- represent the department at relevant internal and external networks and forums, such as the RAP and Disability working group meetings
- provide coordination and secretariat support functions for the department’s inclusion committees and working groups
- support the department’s Inclusion Networks by leading discussions and supporting them to identify and implement workplace initiatives which support members within their diversity group
- develop inclusion programs and pathways to enable people to thrive and ensure that staff feel that they belong and can be their authentic selves in a safe work environment
- lead an enterprise approach to increasing inclusion and diversity and embedding equity into HR functions
- engage with different stakeholders, including internal personnel and networks, Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) groups, Australian Public Service (APS) agencies and external stakeholders and providers.

**Knowledge and Experience Required**:
**Skills and Capabilities Required**:
You will have extensive inclusion and diversity practitioner expertise, be a strong leader and strategic thinker, with extensive stakeholder management experience. In addition, you will have the ability to demonstrate;
- Demonstrated excellent people leadership that has led to the success of others
- Strong communications experience with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, agility and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of the departments and Australian Public Service’s objectives and align operational activities accordingly
- Experience in project management, monitor project progress, adjusting plans as required and monitoring budgets
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- The position requires a Baseline (protected) security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
