The AU Transportation Operations Management team is seeking Area Manager to work in our Sort Centre in Craigieburn (MEL8) and manage operations in our yards. Key job responsibilities
- Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and well-being.
- Partner with site leadership, transportation partners to improve On-time Arrival and Departure Performance of trucks in and out of yards, and deliver high Customer Experience metrics.
- Communicate between multiple stakeholders to streamline flow of trucks in the yard.
- Accountable to report yard performance to the local site leadership, identify root causes for structural issues and drive resolution with multiple stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives and implementation of Lean tools.
- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs; while measuring and identifying activities performed.
- Ability to work some weekend shifts as needed (this team provides tactical support to Amazon’s fulfillment network 7 days/week).
- Lead, manage and develop small teams
- Respond to and manage incidents in conjunction with various stakeholders.

A day in the life
You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, making sure it is as productive as it can be. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety and uphold quality and shift performance standards. You’ll also oversee process improvements within your area and drive implementation. A typical day is varied, including everything from routine team management and daily operational responsibilities to process improvement and wide-scale operational contingency tasks. You’ll also be a role model and mentor to your team.

- Work experience in operations/supply chain/logistics/e-commerce is a plus.
- Experience of Six Sigma/ Lean analytical techniques is a plus.
- Experience of supply chain management and transportation concepts: forecasting, planning, optimization, logistics, delivery performance, carrier negotiation, inventory management, S&OP.
