**Your role**

The work of the Civil Litigation, Dispute Resolution and Public Law team is interesting and diverse. The team has recently expanded, and this is an opportune time to join us as we strive to provide our clients with excellent legal advice and value adds.

This role sits within the Practice Management Team to provide support, including induction, training, data capture and reporting. The primary responsibility of the Civil Team is to:

- Manage civil claims against DCJ, including historic abuse claims involving Youth Justice and out-of-homecare and other civil claims involving Housing, Courts Services, Corrective Services NSW, disability and other personal injury claims
- Manage claims against Government figures and bodies including the Attorney General, the State of NSW, Court and Tribunals and the NSW Sheriff’s office
- Provide advice and liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to matters within the Attorney General’s portfolio, including constitutional matters, complex charitable trust matters and policy and law reform issues.
- Manage proceedings brought under the Family Law (Child Abduction Convention) Regulations 1986
- Provide advice and liaising with internal stakeholders in relation to matters under the Hague Convention of Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Enforcement and Cooperation in Respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children

**What you’ll do**

As required of the role you will be responsible for providing professional project, administrative and operational support to contribute to an efficient and effective legal service. The role requires an organised and self-motivated officer with highly developed critical thinking, a focus on delivering results and a natural curiosity for problem solving. Tasks include:

- Provide administrative services, information and advice in line with established timeframes, standards, policies and procedures to facilitate smooth operation of the legal team/business unit
- Ensure all relevant business data/information is recorded, maintained and secured
- Utilise advanced Excel skills to analyse and present complex information. Provide routine and ad hoc statistical reporting to Senior Leadership, including the Unit Director
- Create regular compliance reports based on information extracted from Content Manager (TRIM) to ensure accurate and up-to-date data is captured by staff. Effectively communicating compliance requirements to all staff when required
- Design and deliver training modules, including new starter and Unit-wide refresher training on use of Content Manager (TRIM)
- Review, maintain and contribute to implementation of updating systems, procedures and methods in line with established timeframes and standards
- Working closely with Manager of Practice Management Team on ad hoc projects to improve overall productively and connectivity within Civil Team
- Balance competing demands, work priorities and timeframes
- Oversee workflow to Grade 3/4 Officers, ensuring allocated tasks are completed within established timeframes to a high standard.

**What we’re looking for**
- Providing project, operational and administrative support to contribute to an effective team in a complex, high volume environment.
- Demonstrable experience using Excel for reporting and data analysis
- Experience using Content Manager (TRIM), or willingness to learn
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
