Kennedys is looking for a law student studying their LLB or JD, in their third year or above, to provide paralegal support to our busy Perth office on a casual basis working 2-3 days each week. You will assist lawyers with a range of case preparation tasks and provide general proactive assistance to the team.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in a dynamic law firm specialising in dispute resolution and advisory services across a number of areas including financial lines, general liability, coverage, and marine insurance matters.

Kennedys has operated in Australia since 2006, with around 250 employees in Australia currently, and 2900 worldwide. We handle contentious and non-contentious matters for many industries, and provide claim and coverage advice to insurers and insureds for all lines of business across the globe.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Legal Support:

- Assist with case preparation, including document collation for briefs, drafting correspondence and court documents (e.g. statements of claim, affidavits and concerns notices), and proof-reading reports.
- Conduct legal or procedural/court research and contact court registries, counsel, and other parties.
- Attend court hearings to take notes or appear for small matters such as subpoena lists.
- Review and summarise evidence, discovered documents and subpoena material, and prepare chronologies and document indexes.
- File court documents online and in person, collate digital briefs and ShareFile links and prepare mediation bundles.
- Perform ASIC, company, and property searches.

Administrative Support:

- Maintain a professional front of house presence and assist with meeting room and equipment setup and event catering.
- Monitor and order office supplies and consumables in line with the budget set by the Office Manager.
- Support general office tasks, including mail handling, photocopying, scanning, printing, and document archiving.
- Help ensure kitchen cleanliness, including dishwasher duties.

**About You**:

- A law student studying their LLB or JD in their third year or above.
- Ideally, you have prior paralegal experience and are available to work in the office 2 to 3 days per week.
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in accordance with instructions.
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
