Judge Kendall is the Court’s National Case Management Judge for Migration Law. The **Deputy Associate** is part of a team charged with assisting Judge Kendall in the day-to-day management of his Chambers and the other duties undertaken by His Honour in his role as National Case Management Judge for Migration Law.

Judge Kendall sits in the Court's General Federal Law jurisdiction. In addition to undertaking judicial review of migration decisions, His Honour also hears cases in the Court’s Fair Work jurisdiction, human rights matters and consumer and commercial law matters.

This position does not involve exposure to family law matters.

The Deputy Associate works closely with, and is supervised by, Judge Kendall’s Senior Associate. The role of the Deputy Associate includes, but is not limited to:

- Undertaking legal research, writing and proof reading as required by Judge Kendall.
- Preparing court orders and organising directions days.
- Court attendance, including the provision of administrative assistance in the courtroom.
- Assisting Judge Kendall’s Senior Associate in the day to day management of Chambers (including the preparation of correspondence, liaising with practitioners and court staff, using the Court’s case management system and assisting with docket management).
- Managing Chambers in the absence of the Senior Associate.
- Other duties as required by Judge Kendall and/or his Senior Associate.

**Selection criteria**:

- LLB or JD or graduand with credit plus average. Please attach copies of all academic transcripts.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake legal research and legal writing.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to manage several processes at once.
- The ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
- Tolerance, diligence and the ability to work as member of a small team.
- A high standard of ethical behaviour.
