Our Perth based Indigenous Partnerships Coordinator (WA) is a key member of the AIMS Indigenous Partnerships Team and will collaborate closely with staff across our regionally dispersed organisation. Primarily this position's responsibility will be the implementation of the Indigenous Partnerships Plan (IPP) and Policy within the Sustainable Use of North-West Marine Ecosystems Research Program, playing a pivotal role in providing a roadmap to achieving meaningful science partnerships with Traditional Owners of sea Country were AIMS research takes place.

As a member of the Indigenous Partnerships Team, this role will coordinate a range of activities in Western Australia to ensure Traditional Owners understand and are fully informed about proposed research in their sea Country; where appropriate, invite Traditional Owner input into the proposed science; seek and document Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) for research to take place; assist AIMS researchers to understand their responsibilities, respond to Traditional Owner concerns; and ensure strong lines of communication are maintained throughout project lifespans.

**About you**

Relying on your highly developed cultural competency regarding communication of sea Country management and marine science matters, you will have a degree or equivalent experience in natural resource management, marine science or indigenous Australian culture, preferably with experience working in cross cultural settings, to:

- Establish and maintain a sound understanding of the Sustainable use of North-West Marine Ecosystems research program's science portfolio and how and where projects interact with local Traditional Owner communities and their sea Country;
- Establish and monitor multiple science partnerships with Traditional Owners as they progress;
- Maintain existing, and establish new relationships with Traditional Owner's and their organisations;
- Work strongly both independently as well as in a team environment across a range of varied tasks;
- Be able to communicate and deliver science concepts in appropriate formats to local communities and Aboriginal organisations and people;
- Provide a leading cultural authority role within the AIMS Perth workplace by providing effective advice and an appropriate level of cultural education of staff members; and
- Understand and convey cross-cultural contempory marine science issues and priorities.
