- **Why This Role Matters**:
The Indigenous Student Success and Engagement Officer plays a key role in ensuring Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students’ access, engagement and success at UNSW Business School. This position will work with the Associate Dean EDI, Program Manager, Indigenous Business Education and teams, to develop and implement strategies towards the holistic success of Indigenous undergraduate and postgraduate students within the Business School. It plays a vital role in ensuring that future and current students in the Business School feel culturally safe and empowered to succeed in their goals

**Accountabilities**:

- Manage and promote the Indigenous Tuition Program (ITP) within the Business School, including the selection, onboarding and management of Study Assistants. Act as the primary liaison for the ITP across the education portfolio and schools, ensuring effective promotion and addressing academic and pastoral issues through appropriate triage and escalation processes.
- Coordinate Faculty’s participation in Nura Gili engagement and recruitment programs, and student success opportunities.
- Work with the Program Manager, Indigenous Business Education and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team to coordinate, build on and deliver our Indigenous Student Success Program, aligning with Faculty strategic priorities to support the recruitment of future Indigenous students and the retention of current students.
- Engage with all students to ensure they are connected to programs, resources and knowledge to achieve positive academic outcomes related to their studies and their relationship with the Business School.
- Maintain accurate and confidential academic records from enrolment to graduation, ensuring compliance with UNSW and statutory privacy requirements. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with AGSM, Nura Gili, Future Students, Gateway, Faculties, and other university services to coordinate targeted marketing and communication initiatives that support Indigenous student access to the Business School, and to foster effective strategies for student development and success.

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in providing empowering and culturally affirming environments and programs that contribute to student success in higher education.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and oral communication skills and extensive experience in exercising initiative and discretion in judgement together with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to liaise with senior staff, work across cultures and maintain collaborative working relationships.
- A lived understanding of contemporary opportunities and challenges related to Indigenous Australians and the ability to develop respectful and reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and communities.
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.
- Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
**Pre-employment checks required for this position**:
- Provide Evidencing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander documentation, if successful.
- Occasional weekend and after-hour work in regional, remote, and interstate as required.
- Ability and willingness to occasionally attend functions and events outside of normal working hours.
