**The Organisation**

As Australia’s largest public health system, NSW Health is dedicated to promoting and improving the health and wellbeing of NSW residents. The Health System Strategy and Patient Experience Division is pivotal in advancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services across the state. Playing a crucial role within the Ministry in shaping health policies and programs that prioritise patient-centred care, the Division has a strong focus on strategic planning, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous quality improvement. It is accountable to the Secretary for strategic health and social policy development, inter-government negotiations, implementation of whole of government initiatives, funding strategies, system-wide planning of health services and capital planning and investment across the NSW public health system.

**The Opportunity**

The Deputy Secretary provides strategic leadership across health policy, planning, and funding to ensure the delivery of efficient, equitable healthcare services across NSW. A critical aspect of this role involves advising the government and Ministers on significant health system issues, including the negotiation and management of national health reforms, and fostering robust partnerships with Commonwealth and State stakeholders to advance strategic health initiatives.

As a key leader within NSW Health, the Deputy Secretary will drive policy development, strategic planning, and capital planning and investment decisions to improve health outcomes across the state. This includes responsibility for ensuring seamless integration of clinical service design with statewide planning processes. The role is also responsible for spearheading initiatives to ensure the NSW health system adapts to emerging technologies and remains future-focused. Ultimately, this role is crucial in shaping NSW Health’s long-term sustainability and supporting its mission to deliver patient-centred, value-based healthcare for the people of NSW.

**About You**

This role requires a strategic and dynamic leader with extensive experience in senior executive management within large, complex organisations in the health or related sectors. A strong track record in leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic policies and programs is essential, alongside a deep understanding of government operations, public healthcare management challenges, and health policy trends within the Australian and NSW health systems.

You will be skilled at driving reform and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, embracing change in diverse, complex environments. Strong commercial acumen and exceptional communication and collaboration skills are further required, coupled with the ability to build partnerships and influence across sectors to achieve shared objectives.
