**Salary**: $129,379 - $173,138

Occupation: IT and Telecommunications

**Who we are**

Service Victoria is the one place to go for government services. We deliver modern government services designed around people's needs.

So far we've delivered more than a billion transactions, including for QR code check-ins, car registration payments, ambulance subscriptions, vouchers and cashbacks to help reduce the cost of living, and more.

Our work enables Victorians to easily access over 100 of the most popular government services through Service Victoria's mobile app and website.

It's our job to make things easy for customers and we're proud of our track record so far. Customer satisfaction with Service Victoria is consistently high at more than 95 per cent and our app was the most downloaded in Australia in 2021.

We're always developing exciting new well-targeted products. At present we are working on a digital wallet where people can store their licences, certificates and other government-issued identity and accreditation documents.

The Service Victoria culture is dynamic and fast-paced, and the way we work is highly collaborative. You'll be based in our Footscray Office or the GovHub in Ballarat.

Flexible work arrangements may be available depending on the position requirements.

**The Opportunity**

As Service Victoria grows, and moves into its operational phase, we will continue to progressively add new transactions and new functionality to existing capabilities, including digital licences, digital proof of identity, online accounts and payments with a particular focus on our mobile app.

Service Victoria is now focused on building the future organisation and the appropriate IT organisation structure and capability that will allow the implemented solutions to be maintained, supported and expanded upon on an on-going basis. You will also have a chance to work on continuously improving our service offering by bringing in structured improvements based on data analytics and insights

This role is first and foremost a people leadership role: you will have line management responsibility for a team of software engineers and Quality Assurance analysts. You'll have the opportunity to build a team culture and contribute positively to Service Victoria's engineering practices.

As a team with a range of skill levels, you'll enjoy mentoring and coaching, working closely with team members to identify skills development opportunities, establish professional development plans, and conduct formal and informal performance reviews. You'll also get to work with our Product, Portfolio, and Information Security teams to ideate, plan, and release improvements to services used by millions of Victorians.

**Position Duties/Key Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated experiencing leading, mentoring and coaching a team of technical specialists, directly or indirectly, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
- Practical experience with Agile software delivery methodologies.
- Strong project management skills.
- A successful history of working within software engineering with a focus on web technology, ideally with one or more of React, Node.js, Serverless or Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of software development trends over time, both technical and non-technical.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Great communication and ability to build effective professional relationships with immediate colleagues, other parts of the business (including senior leaders), and staff at other government agencies.
- A personal commitment to integrity, respect for others, and appropriate workplace behaviour.

**What we offer**

Flexible, hybrid, and remote working if you prefer (but you'll need to be based somewhere in Victoria as there's still a need to come to the office). Follow your ambition. Get the support you need to grow. There's plenty of room to move around and try new things. We foster supportive work environments and want a public sector workforce that's more diverse and inclusive. This means we're committed to the principles of equal opportunity and inclusion for all. Gender diverse, Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islanders and people with a disability are encouraged to apply
