**Job Scope**
The Collections Officer contributes to the profitability of the business by minimizing potential losses due to non-payment and loss of accounts by actively contacting delinquent accounts to secure payment.
**The role and responsibilities**
- While adhering to company policies and procedures, demonstrates good customer service skills while initiating outbound calls and receiving inbound calls from customers.
- Negotiates account resolution and accurately inputs and documents actions within the collection systems while maintaining company performance and productivity standards.
- To detect and appropriately act on inability to pay, cash flow or financial problems and action pursuant to Credit and Collection policies.
- Communicating with customer in a courteous and professional manner by telephone to determine reason for late payment and secure future payments.
- Ensuring all action details are recorded on all relevant Collections systems.
- conducting collection actions so as to meet or exceeding both individual and team goal benchmarks, and budget or forecast requirements.
**Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes**
- Secondary Education (desirable)
- Minimum 12 months in a collections role
- Exposure to a measured and KPI based environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work under pressure
- Self motivated
- 'Can do' attitude
- Ability to work as part of a team
