An amazing opportunity has become available and we are seeking an Events Operations Manager to join our team on a full-time basis.
**Who we are...**
Southport Sharks boasts a diverse range of food and beverage outlets, multi-purpose Events Centre with a capacity for 1000 people and 120 room Mantra Hotel on site.
**The Unique Role...**
You'll be an integral part of the Events leadership team, working amongst the action. This role is a hands-on position and is responsible for delivering service excellence by ensuring that clients & guests have an exceptional event experience. To maintain operational functionality of the Events Centre and manage all aspects of Events Operations from the set-up process, event delivery and pack down across all event styles.
In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Support the wider Southport Sharks brand via open communication and assistance of the broader team as required.
- Liaise with guests, contractors, management team, kitchen, and service staff with a view to delivering exceptional service to clientele.
- Manage budgets & implement cost control measures proactively to maximise operating profit.
- Ensure that all equipment stays in a clean, safe, and working order & complies with WH&S requirements.
- Plan and prioritise duties of staff and self to deliver appropriate levels of service.
- Regular formal and informal training of self and staff to maintain the standard of service provided during events.
- Remain visual and present on the floor for major events as staff support, leadership, and client contact.
- Demonstrate managerial leadership to the Events floor staff by improving team morale, coaching team, resolving conflict and being the direct contact for staff.
- Liaise with Events Sales & Coordination team to plan execution of events and assist in problem solving.
- Adapt working days/times in accordance with operational requirements including late nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Proactive revenue and COGS monitoring, adhering to the budget.
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures as required.
**Preferred skills and experience...**
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a management/supervisory role in high volume Events/Operations
- Strong experience with financials including Income/Expenditure
- Experience in a leadership/supervising
- Advanced computer skills and Microsoft Suite
- Experience with Rostering
- Outstanding communication skills and excellent customer service focus
- Current Queensland Certification in RSA
- Prior Ivvy knowledge favourable
This position works on a rotating roster where days will vary, and can involve weekend work due to the nature of events.
