Western Private Hospital (WPH), is a boutique private hospital servicing the West of Melbourne with the provision of acute services, which has 62 inpatient beds.
WPH’s facilities include four Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Stay Unit, Day Oncology Unit, Overnight Ward for Surgical, Cardiac / CCU & HDU patients, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Specialist Consulting Suites, Nuclear Medicine Department and supported by pathology, pharmacy, radiology and radiation therapy services.

About the Role
We have multiple Hospital Administration Officer positions available where you have the opportunity to work with a highly regarded healthcare provider and be part of a team that are passionate about what they do and the difference that they make every day.
We are looking for suitably experienced individuals with - well-developed administration, customer service and people skills that will see you adjust quickly and work effectively as part of a dynamic team; excellent time management and organisation skills, where you can prioritise effectively and multitask effectively; and who have previous administration experience in the health care sector; and who has empathy and understanding, due to their patient facing nature.
In the role of Hospital Administration Officer, your primary responsibility will be to deliver a comprehensive and customer-focused service across various front office functions including patient admissions, reception/switchboard, conducting health fund eligibility checks and estimates, pre-admission support, bookings, ward clerk.
You will fulfil your role as a member of the Front Office Administration Team where we have a supportive team of highly skilled patient administrators further supported by the Administration Team Leader.
Currently we have the following functions and shifts available
- Patients Admissions & Discharges / Hospital Switchboard - 6am to 2pm and 10am to 6pm
- This role provides a high level customer service experience for patients and visitors to the hospital and encompasses reception, switchboard, admissions, discharges and banking.
Pre-Admission Support - 7am to 3pm
- This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth admission by preparing patient files for admissions
Healthfund Eligibility - 10am to 6pm (must be able to work a Wednesday)
- This role plays a fundamental part in providing accurate estimates of patient expenses, assessing health fund eligibility, excesses/co-payments and ensuring informed consent is gained from patients before admission. You will be responsible for communicating with patients, health funds and doctors’ rooms regarding health fund coverage and any amounts owing prior to admission and to ensure revenue opportunities are maximised.

**Problem-Solving Aptitude**: You display an effective ability to solve problems.
**Desirable Qualities**:
**Expanded Medical Terminology Knowledge**: A deeper understanding is always an advantage.
**Private Health Insurance Criteria Awareness**: Knowledge and understanding of various health insurance criteria including eligibility checks and patient Informed Financial Consent is a plus.
**WebPAS System Familiarity**: If you are acquainted with WebPAS, that’s a bonus
