With a history of over 60 years of continuous production, Chain Valley Colliery is located 60 kilometres south of Newcastle. With a substantial mine life and reliable future that is aligned with neighbouring Vales Point Power Station, the mine maintains employment for over 330 local people from its surrounding communities.

**The Role**

As the Mining Superintendent at Chain Valley Colliery, you will play a crucial role in promoting the Delta vision and values while ensuring the safety and health of all personnel involved in the mining production process. You will be accountable for leading the team to achieve annual budgeted tonnes, safely and within budgeted costs, while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with the management team to promote a positive and productive culture across the site.
- Providing leadership to the mining production process team, ensuring effective and safe execution of daily and weekly plans.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative requirements, as well as Chain Valley Colliery’s Safety Management System.
- Leading the production process, actively engaging with the team to drive performance and safety.
- Identifying and implementing continuous process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and safety standards.

**The Criteria**

Applications for the Mining Superintendent need to address the following skills and qualifications at a minimum:

- Certificate of Competency as a Deputy or an Undermanager. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification are highly regarded.
- Ideally, you’ll have a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in an underground coal mine.
- Strong knowledge of statutory requirements and risk management.
- Experience leading a team and keeping in line with site policies and the Enterprise Agreement.
- Budget management and cost control experience.
- Excellent planning, communication, and project management skills.
